Falcon Road Community Centre, London
A community centre rebuilt inside its walls, from underpinning to new domes and minarets.
- Underpinning
- Steel frame
- New floors
- Domes and minarets
How Falcon Road Community Centre came together
The whole building was underpinned, with excavation to a depth of 1.4 metres, and a new reinforced concrete lower ground floor slab was poured. All existing floors and roofing were removed and a new steel structure was designed and integrated to create additional floors and new floor levels, including a front extension. New drainage, electrical, security and fire safety systems went in, with heat recovery and ducted air conditioning throughout. New GRP domes and minarets were constructed, along with new windows and doors, and the building was fully decorated and fitted out for commercial use.
